Photograph Album of Girlsí Camp Friendships - early 1900s

Photograph Album of Nadine Buck, born on June 6, 1906. Quarter buckram over thick dark green boards with orange string tied. 12 x 9.î Album leaves are good with some toning and wear. Photos generally good - very good, with several, no longer adhered to leaves. Map glued to front pastedown, showing location of the camp in Michigan. 26 leaves/ 24 with photos glued to recto and verso. 3 leaves contain 70 signatures of Nadineís campmates. 110 black and white photos., ranging in size from 4 x 2.5î to 8 x 4.î
The camp was founded in 1921 and had a revolving number of owners. By 1923, the newest owner changed its name . There is a 1925 Red Book article but not much is revealed except a description of its ìinspirational leader.îIn 1935, Nadine became the director of physical education for women at Colorado College.
An interesting look at women friendships during the summer months of the early 1900s.
